Although the sun is still shining bright and warm days don’t seem to be going anywhere, back to school also means that Fall is on the way. Today, with many reminders from Social Media, I realized that we are 100 days away from Christmas. And with thoughts of Christmas on my mind, I started thinking about Fall Family Portraits, updated HeadShots, and BeYou(tiful) Sessions. All of which are important at this time of year, whether you are capturing yourself with your post-summer glow, treating yourself to a BeYou(tiful) session or capturing your Family for your Holiday Cards. With the reminder that the holidays are coming, I was also reminded that before we know it The Giving Tree party will be upon us.
The Giving Tree is hosted by Jacquie Bushell and her husband Klaus. Jacquie first started this tradition by creating a way to give from your heart. She invited friends, colleagues and family to attend a party where the only thing that is asked of you is to leave a little something on The Giving Tree that will go towards a charity or organization that could use a little boost. You can leave a gift card or cash, the choice is up to you. Each year, more and more has been coming in and this year, we hope is no exception. A few years ago, Anna Epp Photography hosted a Black Friday sale that was able to donate $300 to The Giving Tree. Last year, while less organized for a sale due to our family planning to move, we were able to make a donation of the same amount through our gift on the tree and my husband getting into the spirit with the live auction. This year, we hope to be a little more ahead of the schedule and we would like to be able to give a little more.
Like most photographers, we are constantly asked to donate our time to events and although we make an effort to contribute to a certain few each year, we simply cannot donate time to everyone that asks. Our contribution to The Giving Tree is one of the best ways we can think of to contribute and do our part in giving back to the community.
Keep a close eye on the blog as we announce a few specials over the coming days and weeks. And from each special we will be contributing 10% of the session fee to The Giving Tree. We have a lot of fun things on the go and we look forward to sharing them with you, along with our new outdoor location for Family Photos, this is an exclusive location and we can’t wait to share it with you all.
