I thought I would take a quick moment to re-introduce myself as I will be meeting some really great people at Blissdom in Nashville in just a few short hours.
I am a portrait and branding photographer in Ottawa, Canada. This is my full time profession and has been for the last 10 years 11 months and 5 days, but who’s counting? I had a dream when I was a teenager, to become a famous photographer, like Yousuf Karsh or Richard Avedon, but as things happen, I didn’t start off my career in photography straight out of high school, but rather many years later.
I dabbled with my photography through managing Cineplex Odeon cinemas, bartending and working at Nortel, however, it wasn’t until our son was born and I had the opportunity to be asked to photograph a few families and weddings and from there, as they say, the rest is history. I am mostly self taught, I spent a few years taking courses at our local college and then as I feel there is always a need to keep learning, I signed up with Creative Live and later, what is now, Sue Bryce Education.
Throughout all of this, I also ran a somewhat successful blog for a while, but stopped when things got too busy with my photography work. I have since started reviving my little place at the beach, however, it is a little different than it originally was and I am not sure where that is going yet.
I am truly a beach lover at heart and it is purely circumstance that I live in a Farmhouse in Ottawa and not permanently by the ocean. Our century Farmhouse is the location of my studio, and we make use of the outdoor grounds as well as the inside space and pretty much everyone who joins me at my Farmhouse wishes to never leave.
I look forward to meeting you all over the next couple of days and learning all about you and your reasons for attending Blissdom. As I am a community leader, please be sure to stop me if you have questions or just want to chat, I am there to help.
