Every now and then I get the opportunity to put my camera aside and assist the lovely Sarah Corbett of Sarah J’s Cupcakes. Our relationship started out on the professional level, working together at events, my photographing her beautiful work but we have become good friends over the last few years and a couple of times Sarah has called on my to assist her.
This past weekend was one of those times. Sarah was asked to participate in the Carefor Chocolate 2015, 11th Annual Chocolate Competition. She prepared a beautiful dessert with 12 elements of chocolate! I can’t even wrap my head around that. A cupcake made with Big Rig Brewery’s Double Chocolate Stout, included chocolate ganache with skor bits, white and chocolate butter cream icing, both white and chocolate curls, spun sugar and a chocolate butterfly. Presented in a chocolate cup with a side of BigRig’s Double Chocolate Stout. What an amazing combination. I had absolutely no hand in the preparation or design of the dessert, I was simply to assist with assembly on the morning of the competition. Of course I couldn’t resist taking a few pics of Sarah and her desserts.
Although Sarah did not take home first place, I know she stole the hearts of so many of the guests that morning. Carefor is an amazing organization and has been around for quite a few years, from their website “keeping families together longer at home by providing home health care and community support services”. It was a beautiful morning and to be surrounded by so many amazing desserts, wow, what a treat for me. Congratulations to Top of the Hill Bakery for wining both Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice and to all the other participants, a job well done, congratulations to all of you for your beautiful desserts and helping to raise money for such an amazing cause.
