For the second year, I have had the utmost pleasure photographing a very special event called Forget for a Moment. This evening, created and organized by Colleen Kanna of COKANNA Designs, hosted by Rinaldo Hair Designers and Spa on George Street and Holtz Spa, with delicious treats from Thyme and Again Catering and Bridgehead Coffee Rideau, is an evening for women going through breast cancer to come together and just simply ‘forget for a moment’.
The guests are treated to hair styling and scalp massage, a makeover, hand massages, treats and goodies and a portrait (or two) created by me. This is such a wonderful night, watching everyone having fun, laughing and enjoying. Knowing that this is just the break from the day to day that these women needed is just such a treat and makes the evening all that more magical.
One of the guests from the 2018 event had such an amazing and wonderful time that she offered to come out and volunteer for the evening to give back for having received such an amazing gift. Not only did she come out and volunteer, but she donated gifts for the gift bags too! Colleen’s sister was here this year as were two of her close friends. Another amazing night by this fantastic team!
Colleen is not only the founder and organizer of Forget for a Moment. She is also the owner of COKANNA Clothing. Colleen went through breast cancer treatments herself and once she was well enough to return to work, she realized that perhaps that wasn’t what she was supposed to be doing anymore. Out of all that she went through, Colleen created an amazing line of bamboo clothing for women. Initially it was all about comfort for women going through breast cancer, however, her clothes are so comfortable and stylish that they are now created with all women in mind. I, myself love the Lynne pant and wear them often.
Colleen has such an amazing support system of women and they all came forward with donations for the gift bags. It is so beautiful to see women supporting women.
Thank you, to Colleen, Fiorella and all the volunteers that came out for the evening. You are all wonderful and amazing and make a difference with everyone you meet.
